Morrisons axes half its management board as new CEO David Potts makes his mark

UK supermarket chain Morrisons has cut five executives from its management board as new chief executive David Potts looks to trim the fat.

Morrisons today (Tuesday 24 March) revealed that Nick Collard, group customer marketing and digital director, Martyn Fletcher, group retail director, Gordon Mowat, group property and strategy director, Neal Austin, group logistics director and Nigel Robertson, convenience managing director, will leave the company.

David Potts, chief executive of Morrisons, said: “I will now be constructing a leaner management board, with the aim of simplifying and speeding up the business.

"I would like to thank Nick, Martyn, Neil, Nigel and Gordon for their service to Morrisons.”

Ross Eggleton will continue to lead logistics and Miles Foster will run the M local chain, whereas Andy Atkinson and Clare Grainger have been appointed as interim marketing and retail director respectively.

This comes after Potts, in his first day as chief executive, posted a video asking staff and shoppers to share their Morrisons experiences with him in a bid to execute improvements to the brand.
