Whalen, who joined McCann from Rapp eight years ago, will be tasked with running and integrating the studio's operations, and growing its collaboration and culture, Deloitte explained in a statement.
He will report to Anthony Stephan, head of Deloitte Digital U.S and oversee the network's creative, data design and innovation offering. Whalen will optimize cross-agency teams, including advertising, marketing, digital reality, content and design.
“With decades of experience running large agency operations, we’re confident Rich will scale, integrate and optimize our rapidly growing studio network," said Stephan.
"His deep agency strategy and operations expertise will make him a tremendous resource for both our clients, and our cross-agency teams. Rich’s people management and development skills are some of his biggest strengths, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring him on board during this time of tremendous growth.”
Deloitte Digital’s creative and digital network currently consists of 48 studios in total.
The Drum understands that McCann NYC plans to appoint a successor to Whalen.
