Wunderman Thompson boosts North America leadership team

WPP agency Wunderman Thompson has bolstered its North American leadership team with a series of new appointments.

Wunderman Thompson North America chief executive Shane Atchison announced that seasoned executive Melissa Dorko has been appointed chief growth officer, North America. In addition, Liz Valentine, chief executive officer of Swift, has been appointed chief executive officer of Wunderman Thompson West, and Carrie Philpott, formerly of Huge Atlanta, has been appointed president of Wunderman Thompson Atlanta.

Of the appointments, Atchison said: “Melissa, Liz, and Carrie are hands down some of the best and brightest minds in the industry. They each bring unique viewpoints and deep experience to our agency with histories of growing businesses, advising the world’s most celebrated brands, and a relentless focus on culture. Each of them will be a key part of Wunderman Thompson’s success going forward – I can’t wait to see their impact on our business.”

Dorko is responsible for new business outreach and business development, joining the team from Isobar as former chief growth officer. She has over 17 years of experience driving growth for companies. Prior to Isobar, Dorko was the vice-president, North American business development at Sapient Razorfish.

Valentine’s new position, will find her responsible for Swift, along with the strategic vision, growth, operations, and client relations of Wunderman Thompson’s California, Seattle, and Denver offices, as well as the mobile business.

Philpott has over 20 years of agency experience, leading large global client engagements and teams across work inclusive of digital product design and development, integrated marketing and brand campaigns, CRM, media, and analytics.  Prior to Wunderman Thompson, she was the managing director of Huge Atlanta.

These new appointments follow the announcement from Wunderman Thompson NA earlier this year of Michael Steiger as chief talent officer, Robyn Tombacher as chief operations officer, Brandon Geary as chief strategy officer, Adam Foulsham as chief financial officer and Jason Burby as chief client officer.  Ian Sohn was also appointed chief executive officer of Wunderman Thompson’s Central region.
