Walsh joins from arts and crafts retailer Michaels Stores, where she was the senior vice-president of marketing since 2016. Her resume also includes a three-year stint as the chief marketer of Pizza Hut and various senior roles at PepsiCo.
She has been tasked with devising the company’s North American marketing and advertising strategy, as well as defining global brand standards and strategies across international markets.
The marketer takes the Subway brand reins from Ampersand marketer Roger Mader, who took on the role of interim chief marketing officer in January.
Tripodi, a veteran with experience leading brands at the likes of Mastercard, Bank of New York and Coca-Cola, ended his full-time career with a three-year run at the sandwich franchise. He departed in December 2018.
Walsh joins the company alongside Robin Seward, who has been named senior vice-president of marketing strategy and planning. The former Schlotzsky's chief marketing officer will be responsible for all US planning, including sponsorships, partnerships, menu 'architecture' and design.
Subway has also hired Aidan Hay as vice-president of operations for North America and Bill McCane as vice-president of global development.
