Video on-demand service Tubi has said it will expand into the UK market early next year.
The San Francisco-based ad-supported streaming service will begin its 2020 expansion in the UK before entering other new countries, it announced during at the Mipcom festival.
Also announced later in October will be the launch of Tubi Kids, which will feature over 1,200 movies and shows available for free.
Tubi Kids will be initially available from 21 October to US viewers through Roku before making make accessible through other steaming devices soon after.
“We’re ramping up our international expansion with the UK launch being the first of several forthcoming territories and look forward to announcing them soon,” said Farhad Massoudi, chief executive of Tubi. “The launch of Tubi Kids reinforces our dedication to offer an age-appropriate viewing environment – super-serving kids and families with a robust amount of content.”
The service currently hosts over 15,000 movies and TV shows and is currently available in the US and Canada, accessible through 25 devices including Roku, Amazon FireTV, Comcast Xfinity, Cox Contour, iOS and Android.
