SCMP taps Adrian Lee to accelerate global growth

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) has tapped Adrian Lee as its new senior vice president of marketing and events as it seeks to continue building its brand globally.

According to the Alibaba-owned media company, Lee will lead its growth strategies by raising brand awareness, increasing traffic to SCMP’s digital platforms, overseeing product and digital marketing, as well as driving SCMP’s events' business.

Lee crosses over the agency side, where he was the head of digital client solutions at WPP’s media agency Wavemaker. Prior to that, he worked for Dentsu’s Vizeum in London and Mediacom in Hong Kong.

“We are extremely pleased to have someone with Adrian’s experience and look forward to leveraging his expertise to continue SCMP’s successful growth across international markets,” said Gary Liu, the chief executive officer of SCMP.

Lee will begin work officially on December 2 and will be based at SCMP’s global headquarters in Hong Kong.

Elsie Cheung, SCMP's chief operating officer, previously explained to The Drum, the publisher's mission is to lead the global conversation about China by offering a comprehensive perspective on China’s growing international influence to its international readership.
